Nearest Airport

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport hosts both domestic and international flights and is located about 22km north-west of the city centre. With 4 terminals, this international hub is serviced by most major airlines and can be reached from a number of international destinations.
 
 

 

Parking

Parking is not available in or around the circuit (except for certain hospitality guests) and so driving is not advisable. If you do need to travel by car, park in the city or suburbs and use public transport to get to the circuit.

Coach & Bus

A range of bus services take you close to the circuit or into the city centre to take the tram.  If you are travelling from Melbourne Airport, the Skybus leaves from the T2 Arrivals Bus Stop to Collins St in Melbourne, every 5 minutes. The journey time is 20 minutes and will cost you approximately £9. You can then catch the Tram (line 12) to Carter St/Mills St close to the circuit, for about £2. The tram journey usually takes 13 minutes.

Taxi

As parking is not permitted at the circuit, you may wish to consider travelling to the circuit by Taxi. Last year, Taxi drop-off and pick up points were located at entrance gates 1, 2, 5, 8 and 10. Uber ranks were also located around the circuit at gates 1 and 2 (along Canterbury Rd), gates 3 and 5 (along Albert Rd) and gate 10 (along Fitzroy St).

Train

The easiest way to access Albert Park is to use the free tram system that operates from central Melbourne to Albert Park on all four days of the event. This is available for all Grand Prix ticket holders. There are different tram routes to choose from, depending on your preferred entry gate.

LIGHT RAIL GP EXPRESS – Spencer Street (corner Collins Street) to Gates 1 and 2

  • Thursday and Friday: 7-8 minute intervals.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Peak Times: 4-5 minute intervals.

CLARENDON STREET GP EXPRESS – Spencer Street (corner Collins Street) to Gate 3

  • Thursday and Friday: 8-10 minute intervals.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 5-6 minute intervals.

ST KILDA ROAD GP SHUTTLE – Swanston Street (outside Federation Square) to Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

  • Thursday and Friday: 3-minute intervals.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 2-minute intervals.

Please note, the time intervals above are for peak travel times (between 08:00 – 10:00 and 16:45-18:15 on Thursday and Friday and between 09:00 and 13:00 and 16:30 and 20:30 on Saturday and Sunday). During off-peak times, trams may not run as frequently. For up to date information, you can download the TramTRACKER app.

Walking

The circuit can be reached on foot from South Yarra station (30 minute walk to Gate 8) and Prahran station (15 minute walk to Gate 9).

Other

For cyclists, bicycle racks are available at gates 1, 2, 5, 8 and 10.
