Azerbaijan, the nation and former Soviet republic, is bounded by the Caspian Sea and Caucasus Mountains,  Baku which is the capital of Azerbaijan held its first Grand Prix Formula One street circuit motor race in 2017.  The first Formula One race at the circuit, in 2016, was named the European Grand Prix. Accommodation

When visiting Baku City you will find the People welcoming and so helpful to any tourist. An ancient Old City which has massive brick walls, cobblestone streets, narrow winding alleys with so many local shops, cafes and restaurants. The modern Flame Towers stand tall amongst other modern buildings. Take a visit via cable car up the mountain to the base of the towers, once on the observatory deck you will find the views amazing!
Baku City Circuit is located in the centre of the Azerbaijani capital and we recommend staying within walking distance of the circuit or if you stay further afield, try stay close to a metro station to help you get to the circuit quickly and efficiently.

Nearest Airport

You can fly to Baku’s Heydar Aliyet International Airport (GYD).  The quickest way to get from the airport to the centre, a distance of around 20km, is to use an official taxi and usually a 30-minute journey.  Uber also operates in Baku and a cheap bus service is also available

 

Getting around in Baku

Baku’s F1 race track is a street circuit in the city center, therefore you will be able to access the circuit by metro, by bus or simply walking.  Public transport in Baku is great as the Grand Prix weekend transport operates 20 hours per day, with buses running as frequently as every three minutes to certain points at the circuit.  The Metro stations Sahil, 28th May and Icheri Sheher are all within walking distance of the track. For the metro, you must get yourself a BakuCard  and load it with credit like a normal metro pass or Oyster card.
