Silverstone has been the permanent home of the British Grand Prix since 1987.  After the Second World War, England’s existing circuits had fallen into disrepair. And so, on the site of a wartime airfield, Silverstone Circuit was developed by the Royal Automobile Club. At the inception of the F1 World Championship in 1950, Silverstone hosted the very first round. Northampton offers the best of both worlds, a busy old manufacturing town which produced most of the nation’s shoe’s and a beautiful peaceful countryside. Milton Keynes is a thriving new town with loads of attractions in the town and nearby country villages. It has one of the best theatres, art exhibitions, Gulliver’s Land theme part adventure for the whole family, Museums and over 300 shops to shop. Water ski, wakeboard on the Willen Lake or try out the best indoor climbing facilities offfered.
 
 
Booking your accommodation near Silverstone is a breeze.  Accommodation close to Silverstone gets booked up extremely fast.  The nearest towns is Towcester and Buckingham which fills up fast, so we suggest the larger centers nearby; Northhampton and Milton Keynes, alternatively London or Birmingham. Booking your accomodation in either of the cities is a click away. Nearest Airport

The closest of the five airports to Silverstone is Luton, but it’s still approximately 50 miles (80km) away. Birmingham Airport (BHX) is a similar distance from the circuit.  The other four main aiports are Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), London City (LCY) and Standsted (STN).   Silverstone is also only a train ride away from London, and there are also dedicated coach services running from the capital to the circuit on Grand Prix weekend, so it’s worth considering staying in London and making the most of the city by night.
 
 

Coach & Bus

Stagecoach runs regular buses on British Grand Prix weekend from the train stations in Northampton and Milton Keynes to Silverstone.  Megabus runs a service from Banbury train station.

Taxi

Taxis are also readily available to take you from the train station to the circuit aswel as Uber services.

Train

If you stay in London, stay close to Euston Station which has fast connections to Milton Keynes and Northampton – the closest large stations to the circuit. Trains to Northampton are normally direct and take around one hour.  Trains to Milton Keynes Central can take as little as 30 minutes.  Trains to Banbury are also worth considering; you will get a little closer to the circuit, but trains take longer (90 minutes from Euston). 

Virgin trains have special deals with Silverstone for fans traveling to the circuit on race day. Extra trains run to Milton Keynes and Banbury, with shuttle bus transfers to the circuit included in the ticket price.
