After 18 consecutive races from 1970 to 1981, the Spielberg Circuit was reduced before hosting another 6 races from 1997 to 2003. It then became impracticable and was bought and rebuilt in the following years by Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschiltz. Renamed the Red Bull Ring, the track was reopened for new thrilling Austrian F1 action. Spielberg’s Red Bull Ring circuit is characterized by its elevation changes, as well as for its beautiful natural backdrop: panoramic views of Styria’s green countryside. Nearest Airport
The closest airport is Thalerhof (Graz) Airport located 53km away, serving both internal and international flights. Alpe Adria (Klagenfurt) Airport is a small international airport located 72km away. The second-largest city in Austria and the closest city to the Red Bull Ring is Graz, which is located only 52km away.
Parking
Parking is provided free of charge, about 15 minutes walking distance from the circuit – near the S36 highway. Look out for parking signs as you approach the circuit and follow directions – the colour of your F1 ticket determines the parking area that you should use.
Coach & Bus
Free shuttle buses are expected to run between the circuit and Knittelfeld train station in Graz and another service will operate between Judenburg bus station.

- 08:00 – 20:00 every 30 minutes

- Train station Knittelfeld – Red Bull Ring (Friday to Sunday)
- 08:00 – 20:00 every 20 minutes
There will also be a night service on Saturday with busses serving Judenberg every 60 minutes and Knittelfeld every 30 minutes. These services will run until midnight, allowing you to visit the local towns following the on-track action.
National bus service EVENTBUS operates a variety of routes from all over Austria, including stops at Salzburg and Vienna.
Helicopter
Helicopter transfers are available from Graz or Vienna. Transfers from Vienna depart from Vienna ‘Schwechat’ Airport and the transfer takes around 50 minutes. Transfers from Graz will depart from Graz ‘Weinzold’ Heliport or Graz Airport, with the transfers taking approximately 20 minutes. All transfers are on a return basis and transfer prices are based on the whole helicopter, and can be for up to 5 people
Train
The most convenient train station to the Red Bull Ring is Knittelfeld. Most major cities in Austria offer services running to Knittelfeld. The Leisure ticket Styria (“Freizeit-Ticket”) is a 1-day ticket for the entire province of Styria and is valid either on a Saturday or on a Sunday. If travelling from Graz, the journey to Knittelfeld takes around 1 hour 30 minutes with some services requiring a change at Bruck an der Mur. Trains run approximately once an hour.
Other
There are two Park & Bike options available close to the Red Bull Ring for those who would like to enjoy the stunning nature over the last few kilometres to the racing circuit. Using these services are at own risk and you need to take your own bike.
