Autodromo International do Algarve Circuit, also known as the Portimao Circuit is situated near Portimao in the Algarve Region in Portugal. It is a world class clockwise permanent circuit, which is 4.684km, 15 turns, and drivers have 66 laps to pull through. All the professional drivers having to accelerate up the hills and down again concentrating on the turns ahead of them before leading onto the wide pit straight finals, making it an exciting exceptional race. Car Hire
At Faro Airport there are car hire companies with best prices offered to reach your destination to Portimao or the circuit for the MotoGP direct. Arrangements can be made by Pre-Booking on line or once arriving at the Airport. There are approximately 10 rental companies and this will be located by the exit of the Airport. Hiring a car is one of the cheapest ways of getting around if you seek your own comfort and timing. From Faro International Airport to Portimao is 55km and the road distance is 70.2km. It takes approximately 45 minutes to drive depending on the traffic for the weekend, as at that time the roads are quite busy. From Portimao to the Circuit will be 17.1km away and the time to drive will be approximately 20minutes, there again taking into consideration traffic being busy. At the circuit all parking is usually free except for the parking next to the main stand which will be reserved for cars and motorbikes that purchase parking permits.
Private Transfers
Direct transfers can be arranged with a personal chauffer who will be there to greet you and help you with your luggage. This is ideal for small or larger groups travelling together to Portimao and the vehicle used is a shuttle and the journey will be approximately an hours drive. This option can be booked online.
Trains
There is no direct train rails available from the Airport. One would have to make their way to Faro City Centre to catch a train which is 6km away. At the Faro Station the trip to Portimoa will take approximately one and a half hours. This is the cheapest option of getting to Portimao. Depending on which train option there will be trains running all day into the night.
Buses
Bus service from Faro Airport is available and operates every four hours. The distance from the airport to Portimao is 70.2km away and the bus journey will take approximately two hours. For the bus service you can book online for tickets.
Taxi
The more expensive option but easiest is travelling by Taxi from the airport to Portimao which is 70.2km away and approximately takes 45 minutes. From Portimao to the circuit the taxi journey would be 20minutes depending on traffic.
Uber
Uber is available everywhere for your convenience and can be arranged once you have arrived at the airport. Download the necessary app to help the driver with the directions once you are in Portimao to your destination. Uber can be used to get to the circuit and should take the driver 20minutes depending on the traffic. Using an Uber is driving in comfort.
