United States Grand Prix
Circuit of the Americas, Austin Texas, USA
18 – 20 October 2024
The 20 turns of COTA are inspired by iconic sectors from other circuits, such as Silverstone’s Maggots, Hockenheim’s Arena, and Istanbul’s Turn 8. The uphill entrance to the hairpin Turn One has also made this unique corner a signature feature of this exciting circuit. Dramatic natural elevation changes that reaches up to 40 meters offer great views to spectators, and a roller-coaster ride to drivers. The large venue holds an audience of over 120,000 fans and is surrounded by outdoor live music space, conference centers and more. Nearest Airport
Public Transportation – Capital Metro’s 100-AirportFlyer bus runs to and from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) every 30 minutes. Direct access to the Downtown area is $1.25. The route stops at the corner of Riverside and Town Creek Drive on the Southeast side, at the cross section of Fourth and Trinity streets Downtown, and on 23rd Street between Robert Dedman Drive and San Jacinto Boulevard near the University of Texas campus.
Taxis – hailing a cab from the airport’s transportation line on the lower level just outside baggage claim is a better bet.
SuperShuttle – Not all hotels Downtown have shuttle services. An alternative is SuperShuttle, which offers shared rides, single-group rides and luxury and SUV options.
Parking and Shuttles
The best way to get to the track is by car (your own, a hire car or taxi) or the COTA shuttle. Shuttles depart from Palm Neighborhood Park, which is directly across the street from the Austin Convention Center. The shuttles now drop you off at the Grand Plaza; right next to the circuit entrance and shuttles operate from 08:00 on Friday and Saturday and from 07:00 on race day. Be aware that shuttle buses are as liable to get stuck in traffic as cars, so a one-way trip can take up to 2 hours at peak times.
The McAngus Shuttle service also leaves from the Convention Center, but it drops you at COTA’s McAngus Lot, which is a 20-minute walk from the Grand Plaza. Once you’ve arrived at COTA, two free tram services run on the outside road of the track to help you get to your seat.
Taxi
When booking taxis to and from the circuit, remember that only authorised taxi firms can enter COTA. Make sure you book in advance with an approved company. In previous years there’s been a special Uber drop-off and pick-up point next to the Grand Plaza.
Walking
And when it comes to enjoying the city, prepare to be surprised at how walkable Austin is. In most American cities, you need a car to do anything. In Austin, you can walk across the whole downtown area in an hour or so – and you’ll find a lot of great shops, bars and restaurants along the way.
Timetable
Full timetable information including support events will be published once it is released by the circuit near race weekend.
